MANILA, Philippines – Former Goin’ Bulilit star Bugoy Cariño marries longtime partner and volleyball star EJ Laure, with the ceremony held on Sunday, March 9.
On his Facebook page, Cariño shared a behind-the-scenes video montage from the wedding. It showed clips of the emotional moments leading up to Laure walking down the aisle, until the two finally exchanged their vows, celebrating outside the church with their guests afterwards.
According to a report by PEP.ph, the couple wedded at a church in Tagaytay.
Attendees of the wedding shared social media posts from Cariño and Laure’s wedding. Internet personality Trixie Lalaine posted a photo of the newlyweds sharing a kiss at the church entrance.
“Congrats sa inyong dalawa #onceENNAlifetimewithBUGOY (Congrats to you two),” actor-performer Zeus Collins captioned his Instagram Story where the wedding guests are seen welcoming the bride and groom as they arrive at the reception.
Also in attendance were volleyball players Alina Joyce Bicar, Mary Dominique Pardillo Pacres, and Bang Pineda, and former Goin’ Bulilit co-star Casey de Silva, to name a few.
Cariño and Laure got engaged during the actor’s 21st birthday back in September 2023.
The pair had a rocky start to their relationship as rumors circulated about Laure’s pregnancy. In September 2020, the couple revealed that they had a daughter together named Scarlet.
Cariño addressed the issue in an interview with Karen Davila.
“Hindi ako masisisi ng tao. Hindi masisisi si EJ ng mga tao kung bakit hindi namin napigilan ang sarili (People can’t blame me or EJ),” he shared, “Ako po talaga ang may gusto kay EJ (I was the one who really liked EJ).”
Cariño is a former child star best known for his appearance on the ABS-CBN television series Goin’ Bulilit. Laure received the MVP award playing for the UST Golden Tigresses before signing with NxLed. – with reports from Bea Gatmaytan/Rappler.com
