MANILA, Philippines – British Foreign Minister David Lammy paid an official visit to Manila on Saturday, March 8 to “solidify the Enhanced Partnership between the Philippines and the United Kingdom.”
Lammy, who is in Manila for just a day, held a bilateral meeting with his Philippine counterpart Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo to “review cooperation across various pillars of the Enhanced Partnership such as trade and investments, defense, maritime, climate change and environment, and science and technology,” according to the Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
“The Foreign Ministers will exchange views and insights on regional and international issues of mutual concern, in relation to the PH-UK commitment to promote peace, stability, and a rules-based international order,” added the DFA.
The Philippines and United Kingdom are set to commemorate 80 years of bilateral ties in 2026.
Lammy also paid a call on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Malacañang, and is set to meet with Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
