The House of Representatives’ quad committee was a sure hit, with its livestreams amassing millions of views online, and manufacturing soap opera-level drama in the post-Duterte Philippines.
But will the panel’s popularity translate into actual votes for lawmakers who have been a constant presence during the hearings?

Quad committee co-chairs Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative Ace Barbers, Abang Lingkod Representative Caraps Paduano, and Senior Deputy Speaker Dong Gonzales of Pampanga’s 3rd District are all term-limited for the 2025 elections, and are not seeking another elective post.
Kabataan Representative Raoul Manuel, a neophyte lawmaker, is also graduating from the House, as he has reached the age ceiling to represent a youth party-list group in Congress.

Deputy Speaker Jay-Jay Suarez (Quezon 2nd District), Antipolo City 2nd District Representative Romeo Acop, and Assistant Majority Leader Jay Khonghun (Zambales 1st District) are all running unopposed, making reelection a walk in the park.
Bukidnon 2nd District Representative Jonathan Keith Flores, gunning for his third and final term, has only one opponent, a retired police candidate who is running as an independent and has no electoral past.
1-Rider Representative Rodge Gutierrez is also seeking reelection as congressman for his party-list group. 1-Rider has consistently made it to the winning circle of pre-election surveys, increasing his chances to secure a second term.
Assistant Majority Leader Zia Alonto Adiong (Lanao del Sur 1st District) has three opponents, all relative unknowns, but one is backed by the United Bangsamoro Justice Party. Adiong won his first term by a landslide in 2022.

Perhaps facing the fiercest competition among quad committee members is co-chair Dan Fernandez (Sta. Rosa, Laguna), who let go of a potential third term in the House to seek control of provincial hall.
There are a total of seven names on the ballot for governor, but he’s essentially in a four-way race with former Laguna 3rd District representative and broadcaster Sol Aragones, incumbent Laguna 2nd District Representative Ruth Hernandez (wife of term-limited Governor Ramil Hernandez), and incumbent Vice Governor Katherine Agapay.

Batangas 2nd District Representative Gerville Luistro, whose sharp questioning during quad committee hearings has boosted her political clout, will be challenged by her predecessor, former congressman Raneo Abu. Abu was undefeated in the district, representing it from 2013 until he became term-limited in 2022.

Quad committee co-chair Benny Abante (Manila 6th District) will try to defend his seat from Councilor Joey Uy, who placed second in his local race in 2022. The latter is backed by former Manila mayor Isko Moreno, the heavy favorite to win the race for city hall.

Deputy Majority Leader Paolo Ortega (La Union 1st District) has two challengers, including his cousin Joy Ortega, who placed second in the board member election of the province’s first district in 2022.
