MANILA, Philippines – The Makabayan senatorial slate — composed of sectoral leaders and activists who have immersed in communities and pushed progressive advocacies over the decades — spent the first day of the campaign period on Tuesday, February 11, reaching out in neighborhoods, public markets, and transport terminals, and schools.
The 11 Makabayan candidates deployed themselves to areas in Manila, Quezon City, and Cagayan de Oro City.
“Let’s change what’s in the Senate, because in the Senate it’s all about politics of faces, of personalities, which we don’t need. What we need are good programs for the improvement of the people’s situation,” said candidate Arlene Brosas, who is currently the Gabriela representative in the lower house of Congress.
