MANILA, Philippines – South Korean survival reality competition series Physical: 100 returns to Netflix with a big hook, pun intended, to Filipino viewers, tapping boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in its newest edition, Physical: Asia.
Originally a show comprised of 100 contestants with ultra-fit physiques assigned to individual challenges, Physical: Asia takes on a team-based concept divided into countries of origin, including Pacquiao for the Philippine squad.
Unlike other Physical: 100 shows which focused on individual prowess, teams in Physical: Asia must be wary of the fact that if a single teammate fails in any challenge, the entire squad is eliminated, raising stakes and drama for all athletes involved.
Pacquiao’s involvement for the Philippines signals the show’s expanded ambition, to “a fierce face-off among Asia’s finest, with national pride on the line,” per a press release.
The first two seasons of Physical: 100, which have dominated Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV Series (Non-English) rankings for two years in a row, are currently available for catch-up streaming. – Rappler.com
