FULL LIST: Winners, Cinemalaya 2024

MANILA, Philippines – The Cinemalaya Film Festival concluded its 2024 edition with its annual awards night, Sunday, August 11.

Tumandok, a docu-fiction film that tracks the life of “a 16-year-old chieftain’s daughter as she fights tooth and nail with her people for their ancestral land” won the Best Film. Jaime Pacena II, in his directorial debut, won the Best Director award for Kono Basho while actresses Gabby Padilla (Kono Basho) and Marian Rivera (Balota) both took home Best Actress trophies.

Child actor Enzo Osorio (The Hearing) took home the Best Actor award.

Tumandok had 5 total awards including Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Music Score, and the Cinemalaya 20 NETPAC Award for full-length. Kono Basho had the second highest number of awards at 4, also including Best Cinematography and Best Production Design.

  • Cinemalaya 20 NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Award for Full-length Film: Richard Jeroui Salvadico and Arlie Sweet Sumagaysay – Tumandok
  • Best Supporting Actress: Sue Prado – Kantil
  • Best Supporting Actor: Felipe Ganancial – Tumandok
  • Best Screenplay for Full-length: Arden Rod Condez and Arlie Sweet Sumagaysay – Tumandok
  • Best Cinematography: Dan Villegas – Kono Basho
  • Best Editing: Dominic Bekaert – An Errand
  • Best Production Design: Eero Yves Francisco – Kono Basho
  • Best Original Music Score: Paulo Almaden, The Ati People of Kabarangkalan and Nagpana – Tumandok
  • Best Sound Design: Jedd Dumaguina and Mario Consunji – An Errand
  • Audience Choice Award for Full-length Film: BC Amparado, director – Gulay Lang, Manong

Short film category: 

  • Best Short Film: Cross My Heart and Hope to Die by Sam Manacsa
  • Audience Choice Award for Short Film: Sonny Calvento, director – Primetime Mother
  • Cinemalaya 20 NETPAC Award for Short Film: P.R. Monencillo – Abogbaybay
  • Best Screenplay award for Short Film: Sonny Calvento – Primetime Mother
  • The Cinemalaya 20 Special Jury Award for Short Film: Pamalandong sa Danow directed by Breech Asher Harani

Cinemalaya 2024 ran from August 2 to 11. Founded in 2005, the Cinemalaya Foundation is a not-for-profit and non-government foundation, committed to the development and promotion of Philippine independent film.
